Week 7: Thursday

[Guess what kiddo, it's letter time.

She's already made it into Akechi's room, knocking at his door. The glass figurine has been with her this whole time, but she can't justify leaving it somewhere while it screams and begs for help.]

Goro, did you get mail?

[due to [redacted], Akechi was definitely out of commission for the rest of Wednesday. so it's good that she waits until Thursday to come see him]

Ah, yes. . . I did. Why do you ask?

[disclosures]

[She pulls out her three letters.]

I have no idea what happened to Natsuo's letter. Do you think an owl ripped it up?

[doublecrows]

[what the fuck Natsuo]

What did you say to him first?

[disclosures]

I told him that I loved him no matter what. And then...

[She waves at the letter with the hand that's still clutching Nathaniel's figurine.]

[doublecrows]

[Natsuo]

. . . then, to be quite frank, I have no idea what happened.

[disclosures]

I feel like Natsuo's a huge question mark and we've known him for weeks. Her?

Anyway.

The professor and Sousei both wrote back too. [These letters are at least less capitalized, even if they are missing words.]

[doublecrows]

. . . I don't believe I've ever heard Sousei-san sound so encouraging.

[Sousei :( he misses him]

A breach. . . what breach does El Melloi speak of? It isn't though we haven't tried to work with the individuals of this castle.

[disclosures]

Maybe it's easier for him on paper than in person.

[Rebecca wasn't that close to him, but she is a bit closer to Waver so...]

Maybe they didn't feel like they could trust us with whatever plans they had. The Viziers and the Editors came to an agreement, didn't they?

[doublecrows]

[and here, his expression twists]

. . . I don't know. I do know Belph-san was working with them. But I was working with Belph-san, and he never mentioned. . .

[trails off]

[and just. shrugs]

[can he blame them? he killed two people. he wouldn't have trusted himself, either]

[disclosures]

He knew all four of us and I don't think he trusted a single one of us with anything besides who he was.

[So you know, it might not just be Akechi he wasn't willing to trust. So much as their entire group.]

[doublecrows]

You said Veronica-san knew who we were for quite some time, and yet never mentioned it. And Sanji-san knew who I was well before I told him myself.

[a beat]

Perhaps none of us had trustworthy personalities.

[disclosures]

Sanji said I was the first Historian he knew about. I don't want to think he was lying.

[She lets out a tired sigh.]

We weren't picked well for this whole trust business, were we?

[doublecrows]

[he doesn't answer]

[but she'll notice, right then, that he brought with him his jar of yellow ink. a jar that he eventually holds out for her to take]

. . . then it's only natural that out of all of them, you're the only one I'd trust with this.

[disclosures]

[Her eyes widen as she looks to the jar and then at Akechi.]

You want me to take this?

[doublecrows]

I do.

[he'll show her his own letter in a moment. first things come first]

I don't particularly trust myself to use it in a satisfactory manner.

[disclosures]

What do you think I'm going to do with this?

[Okay, she'll take it. If Akechi doesn't think he can be trusted with it then she has to be the responsible adult, doesn't she?]

[doublecrows]

Hold onto it, and decide best how to use it.

[she does!! she is the only other Historian here besides himself. he wants her to have it]

I'd avoid giving it to the Crafters, though. They'll have their own ink by the time this is all over. These three pots are for us, and us alone.

[disclosures]

They already have all the ink that's been spilled so far because of all the Narrators.

[She looks at the bottle, is this... a person sized about of ink?]

I'll at least tell Cardia. I don't think anybody will target her.

[doublecrows]

. . . I think that's a wise idea. Likely, Belph-san and Sanji-san have already told her about their own ink pots.

[he nods]

If anyone targets her, then they're fools. She's the reason our partnerless haven't died.

[disclosures]

Yeah. Not that I think everybody knows that.

[While she feels pretty good about Cardia's chances of making out of this week, she's not so sure about her own chances or Akechi's.

Especially not Akechi's.

So she goes on her tiptoes and pulls him into a hug.]

Hey... whatever happens tomorrow, I love you.
