[Akechi... Her feelings are conflicted, of course they are. She was growing fond of Evan and Akechi was part of the reason he died. But he died pushing for people to do objectives, especially the Villain faction, and in the end he did manage one more.

On the other hand... she feels like Akechi is the only person here who truly understands her. Along with the complicated mess that is the game they've been forced into playing. Both of them are Historians. They were the last two standing.

And very possibly she's about to be the only one.

She makes he way down to the dungeons eventually.]

[that's a voice he's actually surprised to hear, although he does lift his head from his knees when he does so. but perhaps he shouldn't be surprised, considering how they bonded the other day]

Maybe somebody's happy we've cut down all the Villain faction all the way down to three.

I don't know if I should be happy you got another villain to complete their objective or mad about Evan.

[She tenses up. Wtress and emotion eating away at her thoughts and she stares Akechi down. Tears in her eyes.]

We're both- We're just trying to get everybody back in the end? Aren't we? We... Both of us want Dragon's ending?

[why do you think he worked so hard to encourage Varian to do his objective?]

We do.

... Did you really have to pick Evan over everybody else?

We chose before we were able to complete our list of Narrators and factions. At the time. . . he was the only non-Historian Hero we were aware of.

[fiddles with his gloves a bit as he answers. he knows that's kind of a shitty one]

[She looks at him for a moment and sighs, running her fingers through her hair. Just looking tired for a moment.]

I hate this, you know? Being forced to kill each other to try and get enough ink to bring everybody back. It's a cruel system.

You're working with what information you had... He'd finished two of his objectives. At least we have that.

It's a cruel system. But it is the system. As much as I admired Sousei-san for wishing to step outside of it, our only choice at this point is to try and make it work in our favor.

[that is, reach Dragon's ending, and bring all of this to an end]

. . . I'm glad he at least managed to do that much.

Enough Villains have completed their objectives to reach the requisite seven now.

If that's how many we need. I don't- I don't know if all of the objectives need to be even too. You heard Veronica, didn't you?

[At this point it's a miracle if she doesn't end up crying here.]

Akechi... is there anything else I should know? Before you leave me to deal with this side alone.

They don't need to be even. Belph-san has confirmed this.

[he heard Veronica, but he trusts Belph-san's information on this]

. . . there were a few other things I learned this evening as well.

I know who the Editors are, as well as the other Vizier. I was right-- the Editors are Sanji-san and Zelos-san.

The Vizier is Steph-san.

[Great. That's exactly what she wanted to know.

Her head's full of nothing. Her ears are ringing. Her will is gone. She sways for a moment. She drops to her knees. She chokes back a sob.]

[sorry Rebecca]

[he crouches in front of her, hands curled around the bars, unsure what he should be doing. but then he remembers the moment they shared just the other day, when they were terrified of being the last two Historians left]

[and he reaches out through the bars, grasping at her, but not yet touching her. she'll need to close the rest of the distance herself]

[It takes her a while. Three minutes of being collapsed on the floor. Not thinking. Not seeing. Not feeling. Her mind just blanked out. That's too much information to handle in too short a time.

Liar runs through her thoughts in repeat, once she comes back to herself.

The only person in the world that understands her is leaving. She's being abandoned again.

Part of her wants to recoil. It wouldn't hurt as much if she just severed their relationship right now. But the much greater part of her is terrified of not at least savoring that moment of connection he's offering.

Slowly she takes his hand.]

You're leaving me. I'm alone.

[ah. . . he understands that feeling. the fear of impending, crushing loneliness. but what else can he say to that but. . .]

My apologies.

[while he squeezes her hand?]

[Her grip gets tighter- edging towards painful. There's a horrible rush of emotions as she stares him down.

Her stare is focused, betrayal filling it. She doesn't hate that he killed. She hates that he got caught.]

You're leaving me. Alone.

[for the first time he looks. . helpless, although there are edges of frustration creeping into his features]

I have little choice in the matter at this point, Bunch. What else am I supposed to do?

[Her grip is tight enough to hurt. Like maybe clinging onto him hard enough will get him to stay.]

Not get caught! Obviously!

[there's a snarl in what he says next]

That wasn't my fault! If that little pest of an alchemist hadn't said shit--

[-- he cuts himself off]

[and presses a hand against his face]

[he doesn't have the energy to be crazy mad right now]

[She doesn't even flinch back. Right now the important part is she's being left alone, and that's the important thing... Way more important than the way Akechi just snarled at her.]

Your accomplices have given you away both times... Maybe stop murdering. We're finished in the hero faction. You don't have to do this anymore.

It's not like I'll be able to kill anyone else from the Other Side.

[rather, there are people there who are probably going to want to kill him. oops]

. . . it's not like I killed anyone because I wanted to, either.

Your hand was forced the first time.

[She sniffles a bit-]

When you come back. We'll... definitely bring you back. Along with everybody else.

I didn't feel guilty about it.

[just. to make himself look worse. Akechi please]

. . . I don't doubt that you will. There are people here who will accept no other outcome.

[And yet, it doesn't change Rebecca's opinion.]

I don't want to lose you and everybody else forever. People here have made friends and family. I guess... I have too. Even though I didn't mean to.

[Rebecca's pet murderer]

. . . haha. That may be true for everyone here. Even myself--

[he cuts himself off, not wanting to get into that any further. not wanting to admit that when he arrived, all he cared about was killing]

[That's so cursed, dude. But he is her favorite murderer.]

It's still something, isn't it? Being able to make friendships, even when you don't want to? It's part of being human.

[Flawed and messy and murderous as he is.]
