Week 6: Post Trial

[She's staring at the dungeons, still afraid to go down just yet, but trying to steel herself to do it. Today's trial was a disaster, sure they managed to find two of the killers but...

Akechi... Her feelings are conflicted, of course they are. She was growing fond of Evan and Akechi was part of the reason he died. But he died pushing for people to do objectives, and in the end he did manage one.

But was this really the right choice?]

[She hurries her way over to him, looping an arm over her shoulders.]

[He coughs, though, badly, and her support does help.]

Someone like me isn't deserving of your help right now.

We're all just... trying to play the roles we've been given.

Speaking of roles... I do know of yours.

[He thinks that might be obvious, with his relationship with Eichi.]

I... don't think I can do my next objective, but I've done one now. I hope that it's enough to help. Can we bring them back, really?

The Hero/Villain/Civilian one or do you think I have another?

[She looks very tired.]

Please tell me what your second one is?

I think we can. I think Dragon is telling the truth when she says she'll bring people back. Akechi does too. So... Please trust him? Trust me?

That's a title. I know you're a Historian.

[He looks troubled, though.]

So I do trust you both, of course... but my next objective is gruesome. I can't do it, at least not as I am now.

[disclosures]

I figured Akechi would tell you exactly who I was. I'm Little Mermaid.

[She gives a small breath.]

I don't want to do my next either. I would need... help with it.

...He's been nothing but protective of those around him. I had to pry out every answer from him, since he wouldn't offer it unprompted, and he defended you all.

So... now that I've already made my mistakes, I hope you can trust me. Is it anything that I can help with?

[disclosures]

[She looks away before looking back at him.] I hadn't told anybody about the other Historians until today. My partner, Cardia, knows Akechi is a Historian now.

... I think I can trust you. I have to put a corpse in the water.

[finethanks]

...I've ruined that now, haven't I?

[He puts his hand over his heart as it visibly seems to ache for him.]

If... I happen to have to do anything terrible again, I'll be sure to tell you, so that you might be able to manage that.

[disclosures]

[There's one shaky breath in and one out.]

I don't think you've ruined anything. Why do you think you have?

Please don't make me kill someone, Eichi. Besides, there have been more than enough Hero objectives.

Three deaths at once... All because I decided to go against Goro's wishes and reveal Varian-kun's involvement.

[He sighs.]

I don't want you to kill anyone at all. Let's see how things progress, then, shall we? If possible, I'd like to go see Goro now, so...

You felt cornered. You care about him.

[Because that much obvious, isn't it? Must be nice to have somebody who cares that much...]

...Thank you, Rebecca-chan. Do you also intend to visit someone?

Yeah. The one you're meeting.

Varian and Zelos... we were never close. But Akechi's important to me.

[finethanks]

I see... I tried my best to save him, but I don't believe it will work, since I foolishly told him my plan.

[He's so depressed.]

I think everybody here is doing their best. To protect who they care about, to get the good ending Dragon's promised. But I don't think Akechi would want to be here without you either.

[Rebecca looks away for a moment before continuing.]

I'm not... My every experience with love has lead to heartbreak. I don't think I can give you advice.

[finethanks]

It's quite alright. We're both new to this... The idea of someone else loving us, despite our flaws.

He didn't want to see me die. He wanted to redeem himself, and feel as if he did something of worth. So, in the end... perhaps this really is for the best.

[disclosures]

I don't think that'll happen. [for me.

She looks shaky at the thought of either of them dying.] Did he ask you not to use your ability on him?

[finethanks]

No. My ability isn't what it was painted to be at the trial.

I shield someone from the Blotters, and the Blotters alone. Either I can suggest another name, but it's merely a suggestion that holds no weight, or I can place my own life forth as a sacrifice.

My protection over him in this case was made through a wish... A wish that he wished to cancel out.

[disclosures]

[She's getting a huge headache from him and Akechi's wishes and canceled wishes. But here they are. They care about each other, that's the important thing.]

... I don't want to see him die tomorrow.

[Akechi is the only one who can understand her. The very last person who can come with her when they see the Crafters.]

I don't want to lose another person I care about this week.

[finethanks]

...I'll see what I can do, Rebecca-chan.

[Ominous and vague, but that's all he offers.]

Until then, please, make sure he takes care of himself, no matter what. If anything's ever to happen to me... I hope that you'd look out for him in my place.

[Weird to talk about this before Akechi's execution, and yet!]

[disclosures]

[She doesn't want to see Eichi die either! Eichi! Her only response to that is to hold him tighter.]

... I'll take care of him. For as long as I'm here I'll take care of him.
