Week 5: Wednesday

[It seems like she's trying to reach for something small up on a high ledge. There's a stack of tables arranged in almost a staircase as she grabs whatever it is. She doesn't know who's around her and what the result of touching it is going to be.

But once she's grabbed it, the memory bubble starts, as she's running out of the office.]

Did you actually go to one of them though?

I went to both of them. Harvard undergrad, Yale law.

[resumed]

No wonder you were asking me about school. [But okay.] My point, Rebecca, is that you're smart. Much, much smarter than letting some idiot guy stop you from finding a different kind of happiness. [...or finding another guy like Nico did but also don't listen, he's 14.]

[disclosures]

[She lets out a bark of a laugh.]

I know so much. I went to Harvard and Yale. But I know nothing about real life. Absolutely nothing! I don't know anything about the real world!

[resumed]

Does anyone? I mean that in all seriousness.

[disclosures]

I have no idea, but there are definitely people who look like they do.

[resumed]

You sure they aren't just faking it?

[disclosures]

I don't know, I don't talk to them.

[Because they make her feel bad.]

[resumed]

Maybe...it's time to start. I know it's kind of hard but eventually it has to happen.

[disclosures]

Mmm... The last time I did that I made out with my boss.

[resumed]

...is...that a problem?

[disclosures]

It was during my engagement! [She says engagement strangely, more like engahgement.]

[resumed]

...oh. Okay see yeah, maybe that was a bad idea. His or yours? [Bad idea, he means.]

[disclosures]

His.

[Both of theirs, if she's being honest.

But she's never been good at that either.]

[resumed]

...did you like him? [WHY IS HE ASKING HER THIS? Morbid curiosity maybe.]

[disclosures]

Ergh, no. He's everything I tried to move away from.

I didn't even want him to be my boss. He just bought it out like- like a dick. Darryl even didn't know he bought all the office shares.

[resumed]

I'm guessing Darryl was your boss before the boss you made out with. [This is such a wild ride.] But...doesn't it kind of take two people for a kiss to work?

[What happened here???]

[disclosures]

Yeah. He's a good boss- well, he's doing his best? His workplace was... very strange, anyway.

The... weather was weird? The Santa Ana Winds, or whatever. Then we got trapped in an elevator. [Did this explain anything? No.]

[resumed]

...you know that all sounds kind of fake, don't you?

[disclosures]

It's not like I want to marry him! He's made out of- of evil marble or something!!

[It definitely sounds fake.

But she also believes it.]

You can't make out with marble, Rebecca. [Sorry he's...kind of laughing?]

[disclosures]

Yeah! You shouldn't!

[It's fine, she's getting increasingly flustered.]

[He's just shaking his head before looking at her stack of tables.]

Should we move these back?

[disclosures]

Yeah. Let's do that.

[And you know, stop thinking about her boss who's sculpted out of evil marble.]

[A good call. And so they do! And they stop talking about Nathaniel because yikes.]
