Week 5: Post Execution

[disclosures]

[It's hours after the execution before Rebecca goes seeing out Sanji. There were a few things she had to get out of the way. A few people kept her from just going straight to him.

But she's looking for him again, searching through the castle- though she starts in the kitchen. It's the best place to find a cook. Even a pirate one.

She'll call out, whenever she finds him.]

Sanji?

Yeah, I'm in here!

[The kitchen was a good place to look. Though he's not in the middle of cooking -- just grabbing some tea because executions never whet the appetite, that's for sure.

But it's Rebecca, so she's got his full attention]

[disclosures]

[She smiles as soon as she sees him, before her expression settles back into "troubled".]

How've you been doing?

[She didn't come here for pleasantries- so instead she just keep talking.]

N-no, that's not what I wanted to talk to you about. Remember how I said I was a Historian? We learned a way to get a happy ending. But it's not... going to be easy.

[concasse]

[Ah... it's gonna be a serious conversation, eh?

He grabs a towel, wiping down his hands, but follows her example and skips the pleasantries as well. There's a nod -- an indication that she can continue if she's ready.]

[disclosures]

Okay.

[She breathes, a little bit shaky. While she's said it once today, saying it again makes it feel a lot more real.]

To get the happy ending that I'm... pretty sure everybody left wants, each of the factions have to do at least seven objectives. The Heroes are currently at 11, Civilians are at 6 and Villains are at 2.

I've been guessing that the Villain faction has more objectives related to killing and that's why they've been shying away from them.

There also needs to be three people of each faction left. Three Heroes, three Civilians and three Villains.

We, that is to say, the Historians, are going to be sending out a letter on Monday.

[concasse]

[For the most part, he keeps any surprise off of his face. His arms crossed, Sanji just nods along to her explanation, only occasionally furrowing his brows.]

... Telling everyone how to get this happy ending, you mean?

[In regards to the letter they'll be sending out, he assumes]

And that's... not gonna leave us with a lot of people, is it?

[disclosures]

Part of it. The draft we have is asking people to do their objectives.

[Though she thinks it's pretty obvious at this point, she trusts Sanji.]

It won't. There have to be exactly nine. Any less or more and we don't get the happy ending.

[concasse]

[...]

I'm a Hero, so doing an objective won't have any bearing at this point.

[Damn, he would not mind being a villain. Ah well.]

We're gonna have to scale back on how many villains go to the chopping block, though. That's probably the other reason their objective count is low.

[At the very least, he is taking this seriously, running calculations in his head as his eyes narrow on nothing in particular]

I'll be honest -- I have a tough time believing people are gonna jump forward, even if they're given the truth. Most of 'em are still out for their own skins.

[disclosures]

Wha- You are? Which one are you? [She can account for all but four of the Hero titles.] What a weird objective. Kill somebody in secret doesn't sound very heroic-- [Okay now that she's done with that minor freak out-] I'm glad you don't have to do yours.

[Back to business.]

Right now I only know of two of the Villains, and I don't think anybody will be keen to kill one of them.

While I don't think they'd be willing to die, but they might be willing to do their objectives.

[concasse]

Right? It's bullshit.

But anyway, I'm Red Riding Hood.

[He'll trust her with that.]

And good hearing about the Villains, at least...

Do their objectives include killing someone?

[disclosures]

Okay.

I don't know, I haven't talked either of them personally.

But when back when Natsuo was Goldilocks- [she can't believe this was a sentence she had to say] -his objective was to sleep in three people's beds. So I don't think they're all related to killing.

[concasse]

[Relaxing a little at that...]

Natsuo tried to complete another objective around me, too. Something to do with burying shit.

No idea if it worked, but the kid is pulling his weight.

[disclosures]

He's always doing his best. From what I heard, he's done three of his objectives.

Okay, so the Villain titles that are left are: Big Bad Wolf, Gingerbread Witch, Goldilocks (I think?), Sea Witch, Snow Queen, and White Rabbit.

When Natsuo came back he got a different title, so maybe whoever he switched with is Goldilocks now?

[concasse]

... Did he?

Shit, no wonder the Villain section is doing nothing with their objectives.

And yeah, that's what I'm guessing, he must've switched with someone... did he tell you what his new title is?

[disclosures]

I haven't heard about anybody trying to sleep in other people's beds. The objectives probably changed.

I don't know what his new title is. If he wants to keep something secret I can't pry it out of him.

[concasse]

He is like that.

... I'll try talking to him anyway. I mean -- he's completing objectives, we don't gotta worry about him, but I wanna at least get a feel for how many people he's told about his title or some shit.

It's gonna get down to the wire for us soon.

[disclosures]

[She grabs Sanji's arm before he can go anywhere.]

Wait no- please don't? He said he hasn't told anybody at all. He just told me it switched.

[concasse]

... Alright.

[He won't then!]

You worried about him?

[disclosures]

Of course I'm worried about him. He's already died once- I don't... I don't want to see him die again.

I... I really don't want to see you die either.

[concasse]

Oi, don't worry. I know it might not seem it but I know how to defend myself.

[Pirate and all.]

[disclosures]

[ And yet a lot of people who can fight have gone down. Sousei, Jae-ha... Why is she here? ]

Right. You're a pirate. Just... Look out for yourself, okay? Please?

[concasse]

I will. I can't have Rebecca-chan worrying like that over me.

[disclosures]

[ She gives a little smile. ]

It's normal to worry about the people you like. Especially when we're in a situation like this.

[concasse]

Alright, I won't argue with that.

[HE'D BE JUST AS BAD, SO.]

Thanks for putting up with me anyway.
